About our founder:

Jenny Kay is a New York-barred attorney, meticulous communications strategist, public affairs consultant, and founder of Kay Communications.

For 12+ years, Jenny has driven internal and external communication campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, and individuals. With particular expertise in crisis management and high-profile litigation communications, Jenny’s client list runs the gamut between leaders in healthcare and wellness, to cybersecurity and political advocacy. Never once, in her decade-plus of navigating media mayhem and Capitol Hill chaos, has Jenny failed to remember that those who share and receive information are people—and treating individuals like human beings is essential to driving  the message that matters.

Jenny launched her career as a practicing attorney before transitioning into politics and communications. Working on high-profile, high stakes issues gave her the confidence necessary to develop creative, effective communications strategies that moved the needle forward. In an industry where clients are often disregarded as [yet] another checkmark on an ever-growing task list, Jenny chose to prioritize the individual lives impacted. Taking a human-centric approach to each campaign, Jenny gained each client’s unequivocal trust.

Today, Jenny is proud to have worked and advocated for clients that bring about positive, global change. She has represented workplace and domestic abuse survivors, drove media strategy for a political investment firm committed to protecting democracy and stopping fascism, launched a consumer-facing website helping individuals better understand the complicated insurance system, and created an impactful narrative for a non-profit committed to supporting successful reentry post-incarceration.

As an external consultant who approaches each project with the vigor of an internal stakeholder, Jenny thrives on the success of each one of her clients. As a triple-threat across legal, communications, and public affairs, she brings a unique skill set and rap sheet that benefits clients from a brand, perception, and business standpoint. With her signature never-rattled demeanor, uncanny recall, and empathy for all, she thinks through every possible scenario and viable outcome—delineating from decisions that will make an impact, and those that make the right impact. 

Jenny received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University and JD from New York Law School. In her spare time, you will find her coaching at [solidcore] or serving as a top-tier fundraiser for the MS Society. A native of the DC region, Jenny resides in Washington, DC with her husband and two rescue pups.
